Company's Objective

Daesim's main objective is to improve the competitiveness and efficiency in the market environment but without giving out on quality services the Group provide. The Group's top priorities is to diversify its current activities into new fields such as manufacturing, developments and industrial activities. Daesim strongly and confidently believes that the Group can help in the development and enhancement of the market industry in the local society. To be able to survive and expand in today's challenging market, the group strongly believe on good on-the-site management. With this simple principle in mind, the Group continues to expand and pose to become a key player in its field.

Since its establishment in 1984, a simple trading company with only a handful of staff, has grown to a total of more than 400 personnel and the group has generated phenomenal growth to become a corporation which currently holds the following subsidiaries/outlets :-

Before it was established, Mr Lau and Madam Wong were once hawkers at SMC night market. With their commitment and contribution to their business, they have successfukky setup their 1st tailoring store (Hua Hiap Trading) at Sarawak House at year 1974. From 1974 to year 1982, Mr Lau and Madam Wong had expanded Hua Hiap Trading to 4 outlets and at year 1984, 1st Daesim outlet (Star General Trading) was born.

In year 1985, Daesim Emporium was setup and expanded in year 1986. In year 1987, Daesim Emporium launched its 2nd outlet. In 1998, Daesim Emporium departmental store was launched and Star General Textile was setup at year 1989.

The business was doing wel until an incident occured in 1990. A fire broke out in Sarawak House, burning off all their properties. Two years later, they terminated Hua Hiap Tradind, bought a land in 1995 which will become the soon to be open Star Mega Mall.

In year 2003, Daesim Supermarket was officially launched and a year later, Daesim Group was awarded as the winner of Golden Bull Award 2003 [Malaysia 100 Outstanding SMEs]. The Star Mega Mall project was approved by the government in the year 2004 and started implementing in August 2007.

Golden Bull Award – Malaysia 100 Outstanding SMEs is an annual programme organized by Nanyang Siang Pau, the most influential Chinese Daily in Malaysia and co-organized by Nanyang Online and The Asia Pacific Centre for SMEs. This award recognizes the outstanding achievements of Malaysia Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs), which formed 93.8% of all establishments in the manufacturing sector, which are considered as the backbone of Malaysian economy. One Hundred outstanding SMEs were selected from amongst the nominations by evaluation based on the company’s management and financial performance. The nominations were audited by Ernst & Young and the final list of winning companies were endorsed by the independent panel of judges led by YBhg Datuk David Chua, Deputy Secretary General, The Associated Chinese Chambers of Commerce and Industry of Malaysia. Daesim Emporium is deeply honor and proud to be the only supermarket/departmental store in Malaysia to be the recipient of this inaugural Golden Bull Award 2003.
